Is the weather cancel the tour?

We run our tours rain or shine. For boating, if it’s just rain and no thunderstorms or strong winds are expected, we’ll still head out on the water. For hiking or biking, we only cancel if we believe the road conditions are too dangerous to continue.

What is the capacity of the boats?

The maximum number of people allowed in a single boat is 10.

Why your service is better than others?

We are a company based entirely around Lake Kivu and its surroundings. We may visit the same spots, but in a much more comfortable and safe way. Our highly skilled and experienced guides offer services in both English and French—at a better price.

 

 

Where is your location?

We operate from three locations: Rubavu District in the northwest of Rwanda, Karongi District, and Rusizi District in the southwest, right on the shore of Lake Kivu.

Where do we start the tour?

If your accommodation is on the lake, we could start the tour right at the hotel or somewhere nearby.

Is there parking nearby?

Free parking is available at all our departure locations for your convenience.

Are your boats covered?

Yes, all boats are covered, and passengers sit in the open air.

Do you have life vests?

Yes, we do. Every seat is equipped with an easy-to-wear life vest, which clients are required by law to wear for the entire tour for safety reasons.

Is this a guided tour?

Yes, the crew members will share all the details about the landmarks to be visited and will gladly answer any additional questions from the clients.

Is this tour suitable for all clients?

The tour is generally suitable for all guests, except children under two years old. Passengers are responsible for ensuring they are in good health to take a boat ride. This means those with neck, back, or spine issues, as well as individuals with special needs, will not be able to participate.

Can we get off for a swim?

Yes, you can swim after signing our waiver, but it’s at your own risk. The lake is safe for swimming. Our stopovers are mainly for photo opportunities and narration by the captain, with experiences varying depending on the tour. Guests are generally advised to remain on the boat at all times.

Can I take pictures?

Of course! Photography is encouraged. We know how important vacation photos are, so the boat will stop in front of the top attractions to give you the perfect photo opportunity.

Can I bring my own food/beverages onboard?

Feel free to bring your favorite bites and snacks, as we’ll only be offering bottled mineral water, beers, and other drinks to quench your thirst, along with sealed snacks.

What do the clients need to bring with them?

Yes, we have insurance coverage

Yes, we have insurance coverage

Can I bring my pet on a board?

Yes, it is allowed to bring your pet 

What if the weather is bad?

We would modify the itinerary, reschedule or cancel and refund – depending on the weather conditions and what you would want to do.

Are there going to be other people on the boat with us?

All our trips are private to your group + 2 people from our company, a captain and a guide.

Can we play our own music on the boat?

Absolutely. Our boat has a premium amplified 9 speaker audio system and you can play music from your phone via Bluetooth.

Are drinks included? Is there a cooler on the boat?

We have an iced cooler with bottled waters. You’re welcome to bring your own drinks, beers and snacks.

What is your cancellation policy?

48hrs before the scheduled boat trip to get a full refund if you happen to change your plans. All our trips are weather permitting so we reserve the right to cancel your trip if we don’t think that conditions are safe – in this case you would get full refund also.
